Intent
We aim for children to become fluent in the fundamentals of Mathematics, reason mathematically by following a line of enquire and solve problem by applying their mathematics to a variety of routine and non routine problems. The focus of mathematics teaching in key stage 1 is to ensure that pupils develop confidence and mental fluency with whole numbers, counting and place value.
Implementation.
We implement our maths curriculum through the use of the variety of teaching and learning styles. We follow the White Rose Maths planning as well as using other resources where appropriate. There is a balance between whole- class, group and independent activities. Assessment is used regularly to ensure that children are secure in their mathematical learning and to identify any gaps before moving forward.
