East Guildford Confederation

Following discussions between headteachers, chairs of governors and Surrey County Council over a period of time, nineteen schools agreed early in 2007 to form the East Guildford Confederation – a group of schools ‘working together to make every child matter’. Chilworth School is one of these schools. Most schools are geographically in the East, Central and South Eastern Guildford area. Sue Giddings was appointed Manager in July 2007 and is based at St Peter’s School, Guildford. The Confederation has a website (www.eastguildfordconfederation.org.uk) and if you are looking for advice on family related problems, there are links from the Confederation website to a wide range of sources of advice and support- just click on 'Family Services'. This area will also provide you with the link to the Early Years and Childcare site which provides up to date information on childcare. There are further links to information on schools, life events, special educational needs, sports and much more. You will find a link to the website on our Contacts and Links page.

New Outdoor Learning Environment

We are planning a new outdoor teaching and learning area for Year 1 and Year 2 classes. We believe that children learn best by doing and investigating and this will provide a stimulating outdoor environment for children to use as a learning tool.

The school has recently received two Awards.

The Activemark - schools receive the mark if the percentage of pupils participating in at least 2 hours high quality PE and school sport each week is significantly above the national average, they hold a sports day, and they meet or better the national average for pupils participating in sports clubs linked to their school.

The Eco-Schools Silver Award - this is in recognition of the school's achievements in working towards a sustainable lifestyle.
